Most of us may hold a view ,obviously it's good to have "Thirst for Knowledge"...But then give a deeper thought .. Is it really right to hold this view? I would say no... What?? ..say it again.. few of you might give such a reaction...are you joking? how something that gives us proper understanding of something can be bad?

And then most of you would like to hear the answer for question... How it is bad?

Here is the million dollar answer:

One with thirst for knowledge attaches himself/herself to sources which One thinks will quench one's thirst for knowledge.

Hmmm...but the question remains same ,How it is bad?

OK ,so you didn't get it...let me quench your"THIRST" with this small story

Sage Bharadwaja ,who don't require any introduction, wanted to get the knowledge of Vedas completely, but despite diligent study,he found himself unable to import all of that knowledge into himself.

Hence,he prayed for extended life of 100 years which obviously was granted to him.

But as we know the ocean of knowledge is limitless ,so was the case here,He couldn't complete his study and your guess is right ,he asked for further extension.

Thus,it was his thirst of knowledge which couldn't be quenched ,drove him away from liberation(moksha)

He did nothing wrong, but all he did was he attached himself to something which was blocking his way to moksha.

No ...please don't..don't put this thought in your mind that you shouldn't seek knowledge.

You must study and acquire expertise, but then you need a balance in life.

Your search for knowledge should have clear purpose and you should rather must aim for new skills.

But always remember the old saying "EXCESS OF ANYTHING IS BAD"
